Wouldn't it be easier for him to be big, to clean her toes?
Being that small it's much harder to see if he missed any dirt.
And don't say the mom could tell him, as she can't get nearly as close to her own toes as a 2nd person could unless she was ridiculously flexible.
At which point she could easily do it herself.
